How Long Does it Take to Develop a Site?

A new site, whether constructed from scratch or a reconstruction of an existing one, takes on average between 2-8 weeks with our process for a straight-forward website and 6-18 weeks for complexly coded or e-commerce sites. Keep in mind that timelines are also completely dependent on our clients’ and subject to their own preparedness and ability to deliver content, provide information, respond to emails, and make decisions.

What Does Your Process Involve?

In summary, it includes the following:

Discussion of Your Overall Goals.
We will map out the features and functions of the website. Who are your customers, how will we add value and attract more of them to your website?

Develop Your Menu & Page Flowchart.
Mapping out the menu, its pillar pages, secondary, and resource pages that will make up the navigation for the website as a whole. We want visitors to get where they want to go as easily as possible and with a positive impression.

Design the Perfect Interface.
Our custom process of creating the look and feel of your website based on your brand’s image, the goals of the new or revamped website, and the targeted audience. We want visitors to quickly understand what you offer and how to get where they need to go, regardless of the device they use to visit your site.

Create Your SEO Strategy.
Our focused approach ensures individual pages within the website are constructed with the purpose of being found on Google, where 92% of searches are conducted (Oberlo 2023). Applying best practices of content strategy, back-end programming, and optimization, we can help increase the opportunity that Google will cooperate with your site.

Architect Your CMS Integration.
Programming your custom graphics, advanced features, creative functions, and page flowchart into the content management system. This is the brain of the website and how you will be able to easily edit and manage your pages independently if you choose.

Finalize Content & Copy.
You create the content and copy. We will help you to construct a cohesive plan for prioritizing organization, value, and reliability in your pages. We will even provide a tertiary review of grammar, forms, and functions before we go live.

Quality Assurance / Go-Live Process.
Includes testing to ensure all links are functioning, the website is responsive across multiple browsers and devices, that backend security is in place and operational, and that your site is fully ready to be published for everyone to see.

Why Should I Go with Your Custom Website Instead of Free or Low Cost Sites like Squarespace and Shopify?

We actually like Squarespace and Wix. These low cost DIY website builders, and others like them, are great resources for many businesses. Template sites like Squarespace and Wix give great power to folks who know what they want, have their content ready to go, and want to get a website up quickly. It’s very easy to use and even has wizard prompts to add features to the site you build.

Our approach is not for every business. And we will be the first to tell you that. If investing the least possible cost is your approach, then we are not the right company for you. Deal sites will attract deal-seekers. Helping businesses build sites that connect with visitors and convert them into loyal customers is the difference between our design efforts and wizard-driven resources. Building the site is actually the easy part. What to put in it is the hard part. And in the end, hidden costs, recurring annual charges, hosting fees, and other bells and whistles add up to often cost you more in the long run, so be sure you do your research before making a decision that may delay your goals.

If you want a truly professional site, it is worth your while to hire a developer, whether it be Web-Nouveau or another agency. A developer is an expert in all things web design and will generate higher quality websites that can not be produced by templates alone. Template and front-end management does not utilize code, cPanel management, analytics, FTP, MySQL, or security to optimize your website. By using agile methodology and various web development factors, we can ensure that your website is running efficiently on the latest security updates. This results in an efficient, scalable, and powerful website.

Who Owns the Site Once it is Paid For and Published?

Your site belongs to you. You will not be charged for hand-off, nor will you be charged to switch to your own hosting platform. Some web developers will do that, and I think that’s absolutely crazy and unethical. While our designs are custom to your business and the content and page structures are developed by following a thorough and proven process, the website files, pages, and content are all the property of the client once paid in full.

If you opt for on-going management, we will continue to host, secure, and optimize your site after it is built and for as long as you prefer we maintain it. And if the time comes that you desire to take your site and host elsewhere for any reason, we will provide all of the CMS files to you. This excludes licensed material and premium software. and plugins, as their ownership can not be transferred due to copyright laws, so please be sure to read our additional information on this.

What Do You Mean by "Hosting and Security" Services?

Hosting and Security is multidimensional and encompasses a variety of integral components necessary to the safety and reliability of your website.

• Hosting with uptime guarantee, daily backup, security scanning, and code to block bots, ban certain IP addresses, and hide inspectable website origination and source information.
• Free website migration from your current CMS host to our hosting platform.
• Free SSL certification.
• FIle and Plugin updates and maintenance.
• All sites we host are monitored 24/7 in real-time by advanced computer scripts and daily by our quality support team from their data center. The sites we host are backed up daily and live in a secure and redundant environment that provides us with swift recovery options should unforeseen failures or issues arise.
• To optimize security, sites are built and managed in-house with a single administrative user account.
• Plugin optimization is essential given the number of hackers and viruses that infiltrate websites through weak, unsecure, and outdated plugins. We only use a select list of vetted plugins on all of our client’s sites. If a new plugin is requested by a client, it is carefully scanned and vetted to confirm it meets strict reliability and security standards. We then test it for compatibility in our website environment and to ensure it doesn’t affect the overall performance and uptime of the site.

How Many Changes Can I Make to My Website?

If you’re under our management, your requests (add blog posts, change wording, swap out images, update contact info, etc.) are unlimited! This does not include complete website overhauls or re-designs. If you are not under management, you can make changes during your site’s development, but change requests made after the launch of your website will be billed as a separate service (changes needed due to our fault will be made free of charge.)

Why Should I Use a Contact Management System (CMS)?

Content Management System (CMS) offer a lot of flexibility in front-end and back-end development of websites. WordPress is an example of a very powerful CMS. In fact, 43% of all websites utilize WordPress, and it is a reliable, stable, and cost-effective way to maintain an online presence. If you decide to self-manage your website after its initial development, your website is essentially free, because there are no additional costs for static maintenance beyond hosting and domain registration - something you have to pay for on top of your monthly/annual fee with a proprietary template/DIY site like Wix. WordPress allows you to avoid “reinventing the wheel” in having to apply Bootstrap open source codes to your development framework at every level. For this reason, it outranks any other platform for website development by businesses big and small.

If I Decide to Manage My Website on My Own or Move It to Another Service, How Do I Get My Website?

The great thing about the CMS platform we use is that it can be used universally and you’re never limited by a specific company, developer, or platform. It’s usually as simple as transferring administrative privileges. Additionally, most hosting services can provide site migration as part of their services or for a fee. Regardless, we will export and package up all of your cPanel files for you to provide to your next developer. Keep it mind, that any licensed images or software incorporated into your site at your request can not be transferred per the terms of IP and copyright laws.
